Rent Relief Program Extended for Vulnerable WA Tenants
In welcome news for many Western Australians doing it tough, the WA Government has extended its Rent Relief Program by six months, now running through to 31 December 2025. Originally due to end in June 2025, this extension aims to continue supporting those most at risk of losing their housing during a period of ongoing cost of living pressures.
🔹 What is the WA Rent Relief Program?
The program was launched in December 2023 and is administered by Anglicare WA and Vinnies WA. It offers one-off payments of up to $5,000 to assist eligible tenants with rental arrears and upcoming rent costs, helping them achieve long-term housing stability.
🔹 Who is eligible?
To qualify, tenants must:
• Be behind in rent
• Be struggling to meet daily living expenses
• Have less than $3,000 in savings
So far, this initiative has provided over $11 million in rent relief to more than 2,700 WA households.
🔹 Support Beyond Payments
The program doesn’t just offer financial relief—it also connects tenants with financial counselling, housing support services, and other community resources, reinforcing the relationship between tenants and landlords and providing a pathway to stable housing.
At Deximal Property Services, we understand how vital secure housing is. If you or someone you know is experiencing rental hardship, we encourage you to explore the assistance available through this program.
